A Bethlehem Walk Thank You
Bethlehem Walk Thank you!
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11
For the past four years, members of Christ Lutheran Church have come together in November and early December with a very specific purpose in mind. Many have cheerfully given time, talents, and generous donations to support our Bethlehem Walk.
This year was no exception. More than sixty adults and youth gathered together for puppet practices, costume fittings, canopy set up, work nights, and planning meetings. Many hours and much effort were spent in preparation for this special weekend event. Why all of the effort? Why all of the excitement? Well, it goes far beyond the fun.
The truth is that there are a whole lot of hurting people in our world who are searching for answers (even right in our own community, home, and church). They lean on people, places, and circumstances to provide much-needed peace and joy. Again and again, they are disappointed.
We, as baptized children of God, are in a very special position. The Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts and helps us to believe and understand the words we read in Luke 2:11…“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
We are not (nor could we ever be) good enough to make it to heaven by our own efforts. Sin is always in the pictures of our lives. But God loved us so much He provided the Solution. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to come to this earth born as a baby in Bethlehem. This baby, Jesus, was and is the Savior of the world! He lived a sinless life. He taught, healed, and performed miracles. He took the punishment for our sins as He died on a cross. But He then proclaimed victory over death by rising from the dead three days later. Jesus went up into heaven and is preparing a place for each one of us to join Him one day.
We thank God for the almost 400 people who came to the Bethlehem Walk this year! We pray that each visitor was filled with hope and truth as they walked through our building and heard about Jesus, our loving Savior. We thank you for supporting the Bethlehem Walk. More than that, we pray that you and your families are filled this Christmas with the peace and joy that can only come from Jesus.
God’s Blessings,
Tammy
