“But God”
Lessons from LiFest 2019
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory
in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
One of the most powerful lessons I learned at LiFest 2019 happened during the Danny Gokey concert. He spoke about how he lost his first wife unexpectedly just one month before becoming a contestant on American Idol. He was crushed. He didn’t want to live anymore…but God still had great plans for his life. He then spoke of his failed attempts in the music industry. After American Idol, he was canceled by his record label. He was ready to give up…but God still needed Danny’s voice for His Kingdom. Today, Danny has an incredibly successful singing career as a Christian artist. He has remarried and has four children (I found it beautiful that they are naming their soon-to-be-born son, Emmanuel which means “God with us.”) The Truth is that even though Danny dealt with grief, disappointment, and failure, God was still able to do immeasurably more than he could have ever asked or imagined.
There is no doubt that life can be difficult at times. Bad things will happen to all of us, BUT GOD is with you! You are not alone. He loves you eternally and unconditionally. He will give you all that you need to make it through. You may not see a way out today, BUT GOD does. He already holds the solutions to problems you have yet to encounter. Trust Him.
