The Belt of Truth: Psalm 59

Oct 13, 2023    Pastor Andrew Belt

Psalm 59 puts us on a night of watchfulness and dread. Saul has sent men to watch the house that David is in and kill him if the opportunity affords it. David describes them like wolves circling about waiting to destroy him.

But David has his eyes on God. He knows that God will deliver him and show his steadfast love to him. And certainly God comes through.

The Psalm ends with the night ending and the morning arriving and the so called wolves who come prowling each night leave whining because God will vindicate his servant and he will see that salvation.

Behind David in this psalm stands Jesus Christ, who was watched and hounded by his enemies though he did no wrong, but who was vindicated and rescued from their jaws and also grants that salvation to those who trust in him.
