The Belt of Truth: Psalm 71:13-24
Dec 8, 2023 • Pastor Andrew Belt
David, in his old age, turns to God as he approaches his end. Picking lines from key psalms like Psalm 22, 31, 35, and 70, David pulls together strands of his life where God came through in the hardest moments.
Now he knows that God will do it again and so praises God for his steadfast love. He even goes to say that he knows that God will revive him and bring him up from the grave.
With this he foreshadows his resurrection on the last day, but also through David, Christ is praying. And we know that Christ, our righteousness, has gone to the highest heaven.
David knows then that all his enemies will be put to shame as the final verses seem to speak of him post resurrection, when even the last great enemy, death, is destroyed.
