The Belt of Truth: Psalm 38
Jul 7, 2023 • Rev. Andrew Belt
Psalm 38 is an acrostic poem and also the third of seven penitential psalms. Here we also see a clear depiction of Christ as our sin bearer.
The Psalmist complains first of the effects of sin upon his body and how God is doing this to him and asks God for relief.
Then he remarks about those who are seeking his harm and mock and ridicule him and who have watched for this moment.
But he is silent to their rebukes and does not return their reviling even though he did good to them.
He then leaves his case with God trusting that God is his salvation and will not be far from him.
