The Belt of Truth: Psalm 90

Mar 15, 2024    Pastor Andrew Belt

Moses begins our journey through Book IV of the Psalms (90-106) by stepping in the breach between God and his people like he did of old in Exodus 32-34.

Here Moses pleads for God to relent of the disaster of Book III and the fall of the Davidic King and the people in exile.

Moses’ prayer is echoed in the rest of the psalms in Book IV and finally God will relent in Psalm 106.

But these psalms, most of which are anonymous except for psalms 101 and 103, praise God as the true King of his people.

It is no small chance then that God combines his promises to David as King with that of Himself as the true King of Israel in our Lord Jesus Christ.

This psalms also reflects on Genesis 1-8 and also gives us a promise of restoration and resurrection. Here God’s eternal nature is the answer to mankind’s homelessness and brevity in the world.
