The Belt of Truth: Psalm 74:12-23

Dec 29, 2023    Pastor Andrew Belt

With the enemy roaring line wild beasts in the destroyed temple of God, Psalm 74:12-23 turns to God and praises him that he has worked greater salvation before.

Using the Exodus and describing Pharaoh and his princes as great dragons and Leviathan, God has crushed those wild beasts before and has delivered his people. The physical battle also describing a spiritual warfare at play as well. God is also described as the Creator who can create order from the present chaos of the psalm.

Then the Psalmist turns to God to act and remember. To remember how the foolish foes scoff and chaff at God and his promises and for that reason that God should remember his covenant, the promises he has made to his people, who are now lowly and poor.
