The Belt of Truth: Psalm 18:13-24

Mar 20, 2023    Rev. Andrew Belt

Psalm 18 is designated as a Psalm that David spoke to God after he saved him from all his enemies. This Psalm can also be found in 2 Samuel 22.

In it, David uses language that brings to mind God’s salvation that he worked in the Exodus and for God’s people throughout the ages. He praises God with complete joy for his work of salvation.

as David moves through the Psalm, we hear another voice speaking and soon come to realize that the author and speaker of this psalm is none other than Jesus Christ himself. The supernatural description lends itself to what our Lord Jesus went through on our behalf for our salvation.

Finally David will praise that the Lord is alive, which he speaks concerning the Lord Jesus Christ who is alive forevermore and has the keys of death in his hand.

God acts on the basis of his promise, a promise he made to David to show steadfast love. And a promise that we have no received through our Lord Jesus.
