The Belt of Truth: Psalm 75

Psalm 75 is the response of God to Psalm 74’s cry of him to come and judge.
The picture is of the people gathered for worship. God’s name is near to them and they gather to thank him and praise him.
Verses 2-5 give us God’s response. He will come and set things right. He will judge the earth with equity. He will make sure the boastful know that salvation is from him.
Verses 6-8 give the response of the congregation. They echo what God has said, noting that to God alone belongs judgment and salvation. Echoes also of Luke 1 and many themes in Luke’s gospel can be picked from this psalm.
Verses 9-10 then form a conclusion. The congregation rejoices and praises God and looks to the horn of God’s righteous one, Jesus Christ.
