The Belt of Truth: Psalm 115

Psalm 115 compares who does what. God is the maker and the doer of the heavens. Mankind is apportioned the earth, and very often turns its attention to idols that it makes/does with its own hands. 

The folly of this is compared. The LORD is the living God who does what he pleases. The idols are made and cannot do anything but are described as dead bodies. And sadly those who worship them become like them. They too die. So the taunt taken up from the nations asking where our God is at falls on hard times for those who do not turn to the LORD who created the heavens and the earth. 

The final comparison is between those who trust in the LORD and those who trust idols. The dead go into silence. But the one who trusts the LORD will live forever and praise God. Such is the inheritance of the believer in Christ.
