The Belt of Truth: Psalm 64

David notes that his enemies are plotting against him in Psalm 64. 

More than half of this psalm is devoted to the schemes of the enemies. They are plotting and conceiving evil. Their weapons are being sharpened and readied which are their tongues and words. 

They lie in ambush and think their plan is all set and undetected, which is comical knowing that David is aware.

And he is aware because God is with him. Suddenly God flips the tables and the enemies are overcome by the same weapons they were ready to use. 

This psalm gives us insight into the life of Christ during Holy Week. On Wednesday of that week Christ’s enemies plotted and readied for their chance to strike.

But Jesus knew of their plan. He knew of the betrayer and he knew that God would deliver him. 

And because Jesus is delivered we all can break forth into joy because Jesus has destroyed the enemy of death by dying and he gives us that victory.
