The Belt of Truth: Psalm 58
Oct 9, 2023 • Pastor Andrew Belt
Psalm 58 is a psalm of righteous judgment against all that is evil and wicked.
Using some of the most shocking language in the Psalter, David leaves no space or room for evil to be given any quarter or place.
Evil is described in the psalm as the devil is described in the Bible, as a serpent and a lion.
The Psalm describes evil in the 3rd person perspective, but we can see how this evil also infects all our hearts and the resulting destruction would have been ours if Christ has not redeemed and saved us by his love.
The psalm ends with the confidence that the righteous will be vindicated and evil will be ended. God is indeed the judge on earth.
