The Belt of Truth: Psalm 124

Psalm 124 recounts the relief one feels after a close call with death.
David, who knows more than most what it is like to rescued in the nick of time, has all Israel, which is all believers in Jesus join in on the praise of God.
Four scenarios are given of rescues that give us words to speak of our own close calls. Of being devoured, of being swept away, or being mauled and finally of escape from a trap that we were caught in.
Through it all, we see the rescue that we have been given in Jesus. Like St. Paul, we can recount how God has delivered is from every evil plan and how he will deliver us into his heavenly kingdom.
