The Belt of Truth: Psalm 128

Psalm 128 describes the good life, a happy life that is blessed by God. 

This is shown in work and labor and enjoying fruit of what our labor brings. Work is a good thing, a God given thing. Even though the curse infects it, and frustrates it, God still gives it. 

Family life is also described as the chief blessing. Husbands and wives, parents and children are seen to be the bedrock in receiving blessing from the Lord on those who fear him. Children being the chief fruit of the marriage bed. 

This is tied to the people of Israel as a whole. Here the psalm ends with the idea that when families are blessed the nation as a whole will experience God’s blessing and abundance.
